Training Program
The Heal & Empower All for Resilience Training Consortium (HEART-C) is an interdisciplinary collaborative psychology training consortium focused on providing culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care. Partnering training sites for this consortium will have the ability to prepare trainees to offer psychotherapy, psychosocial and psychological assessments, or social services for underrepresented and trauma affected persons often having co-occurring conditions.
Program Structure
The goal of the HEART-C is to expose interns to clinical experiences that will allow them to obtain practical experiences and exposure within the field. The consortium has defined three training tracks. While primary training tracks vary in clinical emphasis, Trainees may have core case conferences, didactics, grand rounds, and psychological intervention in common.
Child & Adolescent Psychology
This track offers training opportunities in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and families.
General & Forensic Psychology
Training in the application of psychological assessment and clinical expertise to address legal questions arising in civil and criminal proceedings.
Autism & Neuropsychology
Training in the assessment of cognitive, emotional, behavioral, neuro-developmental, and social functioning.
Training Competencies
Assessment, Diagnosis & Consultation
Professional & Ethical Conduct
Cultural Awareness & Diversity
Scholarly Inquiry & Research
Interdisciplinary Team Dynamics
Tiered Supervision
Rotations
Tracks do not limit the variety of rotations that Trainees can complete. The purpose of matching into a particular track is to guarantee the equivalent of six months of clinical experience within their specialty. All Trainees will complete at least one rotation outside their specialty Track. This is important because it maintains the generalist nature of the program as well as ensures that interns who are not given a special emphasis are able to receive exposure within a specialty area.
The internship begins the first week of August and extends for a full 12 months. The stipend is $35,568.
